The 2024 Met Gala is officially in full swing, and the style inspiration on the green carpet has been satisfying. The annual invitation-only fundraiser to unveil the arrival of the latest exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion is the fashion Oscars where celebrities, designers, and stylists collaborate for months to create monumental outfits. This year's dress code "Garden of Time" delivered some incredible takes on the garden, floral, and sleeping beauty theme that has us obsessed.
Nicki Minaj transformed into a 3D floral sculpture. Gigi Hadid was the belle of the ball in a Thom Browne, off-the-shoulder corseted gown that took 13,500 hours to make and featured 3D yellow roses. Zendaya slayed in two dresses, including a blue-and-green one-shoulder shimmery corset dress by Maison Margiela Couture that nodded to a Dior spring/summer 1999 design. Demi Moore made a glorious comeback in a custom Harris Reed gown made of floral wallpaper, Sydney Sweeney shocked with a dramatic black bob haircut juxtaposed against a dreamy glue fairytale dress, and Amanda Seyfried took the fairytale approach with a Prada silver gown and matching hair.
Meanwhile, newcomers like Tyla and Taylor Russell took a more sophisticated and understated route, embodying natural elements and neutrals like sand and wood. And of course, Cardi B closed the show in a black tulle Windowsen dress with the most enormous train we've ever seen in Met Gala history.
