The fashion calendar is admittedly a little wonky. Like the Gregorian calendar, you have spring and fall. Unlike the Gregorian calendar, summer and winter aren't included. Even though some brands technically call their collections spring/summer and fall/winter. Instead, we're given resort and pre-fall. When it comes to resort season, many fashion houses opt for full-scale runway productions. That's not really the case for pre-fall. (Save Chanel and its Métiers d'art, which took place in Hangzhou, China this year.) Although just because the precursor to fall tends to be flaunted in lookbook format doesn't mean the clothes are any less covetable. In fact, the best Pre-Fall 2025 collections contain some of the most striking looks of not only the season, but the whole year.
Let's kick things off with Balmain. Olivier Rousteing is currently obsessed with structure. And it even extends to bags which are used to balance out some angular tops and bottoms. If you want conclusive proof that Pinterest Predicts is on point, Rousteing also supplied a moto boho ensemble comprised of a leather jacket, a semi-sheer dotted and ruffled dress along with buckle boots.
Speaking of Chanel, Matthieu Blazy may be its new artistic director of fashion activities, but the French fashion house's Pre -Fall 2025 offering was once again designed by its in-house team. It's definitely flush with the house's signatures, like tweed, quilted bags and layered necklaces. If Coco Chanel really said "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off," we wonder what she'd think of all those necklaces.
Erdem once again supplied statement bouquets decorating elegant pieces perfect for fall and even into winter. Flowers may not be groundbreaking in spring, but these moody florals are anything but boring. In an interesting twist, Erdem's lookbook is purposely out-of-focus, which actually makes the outfits look even better.
Missoni was founded by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni all the way back in 1953. You'd think after over 70 years, the Italian fashion house would run out of steam. But it still manages to come up with fresh and engaging ways to show off its zigzag patterns. This time around, choose from metallic-enhanced matching sets or a chic special occasion dress where you have to look really closely to see the pattern. We're secretly hoping that a celebrity will decide to rock it during award season.
Carolina Herrera also blessed us with several red carpet-worthy gowns. The floral printed pieces will definitely turn some heads in the best possible way. Wes Gordon's strapless pink dress with back bow accented with a thin layer of tulle is giving major "Material Girl" video vibes.
As per usual, Alessandro Michele piled on the pieces and the accessories. While most people either love or loathe the results, there are several Pre-Fall 2025 looks that aren't too eclectic. It helps when the designer sticks to one shade and many textures.
Here are the best looks from the best Pre-Fall 2025 collections.
