Resort is considered an "off season." Which we take issue with. Sure, the fall and spring collections deserve their respective moments in the sun, not to mention the always over-the-top haute couture creations, but that doesn't mean the resort and pre-fall offerings should be cast in supporting roles. Especially since the best Resort 2025 looks are of the highest caliber.
Now you're probably assuming that all of them fit neatly into the cruise wear category. After all, resort and cruise are used interchangeably in the fashion universe. That's simply not the case, however. While you will find ensembles begging to be shown off strolling along the lido deck, there's also a wide range of outfits that'll look more at home, well, at home or visiting colder destinations.
That's evident by all of the leopard coats. The trend was spotted at Versace, Givenchy, LaPointe and Sportmax. Other animals made appearances as well, including tigers, zebras and snakes, oh my! Many of the locations of actual runway presentations dictated the clothing. Christian Dior definitely buttoned up over in Scotland. Makes sense since there probably would have been an uproar if Maria Grazia Chiuri sent swimsuits down the runway. Instead, she presented plaid and even an argyle sweater, ideal for playing a round of golf outside the castle walls.
The few swimsuits that were featured this season aren't designed for swimming. See Ulla Johnson's ruffled bikini top and MM6 Maison Margiela's beachy rash guard. If you're concerned that the no pants look will continue its dominance, relax. Although there are a handful of leg-baring bottoms, Chanel is championing Bermuda shorts so perhaps hemlines are headed back in the right direction.
The accessories make taking the time to peruse each and every collection totally worth it. We're not 100 percent sure they'll actually be available to shop, but if not, we're pretty happy screen shopping. There's the navel-grazing Burberry necklace. Then the layered pearl necklaces at Chanel, Chloe's pendants of varying sizes and lengths plus Sportmax's statement choker. Drop earrings are apparently trending, specifically the chunky variety. Johnson, Tory Burch, Roberto Cavalli, Erdem and Dsquared2 also introduced dramatic danglers. The latter actually pairs its with a coordinating necklace.
We'd be remiss if we didn't give a special shout-out to the hats Louis Vuitton served up in Barcelona. The tilted brimmed hats cap off several looks brilliantly. We realize they're not exactly real world-appropriate. Who cares? We're more than willing to simply flaunt them around the house.
