Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall 2024 Street Style Looks That Make Us Glad Winter Isn't Over

Winter tends to wear pretty thin as we enter February. Gone are the days of wonder and merriment known as the holidays. Sure, we still have Valentine's Day to look forward to. But after several snowfalls and days if not weeks of frigid temperatures, even the most lovely of celebrations can't get us out of the seasonal funk. Enter Copenhagen Fashion Week Fall 2024 street style to uplift our spirits.

It's like getting a breath of fresh air in the sartorial sense. Denmark is pretty cold so showgoers outfitted themselves accordingly. Which is why we are treated to a fantastic array of statement coats. From intentionally distressed faux fur creations to long black takes to the now ubiquitous scarf coats and the occasional puffer. (Apparently, those outsize, inflated jackets are finally beginning the slow descent into fashion irrelevancy.)

Fresh layering tactics are feeding our adventurous side. Like pairing a fitted cropped sweater with a peplum-style skirt. Slipping on a sheer skirt over pants with a textured sweater topping off the look. Swapping a shirtdress in for a basic button-down under a knit vest to finish off a black suit. Or doubling up on collared shirts. Allowing fur-trimmed bottoms to create a little contrast with the bottom of a maxi coat strikes a great balance.

The appropriate winter accessories are absolutely vital. Hats are prevalent. Beanies, berets, balaclavas, furry toppers, bucket hats, fedoras, baseball caps...you get the idea. A couple of times headphones actually doubled as earmuffs. Despite the pervasiveness of the aforementioned scarf coats, separate scarves still made an impact. Most are designed to make a statement, although in another case of street style ingenuity, a draped sweater is an acceptable replacement. On a slightly similar note, dresses with long tie collars poked out of jackets in all the right places. On another closely affiliated note, neckties are proving popular.

On the footwear front, boots and flats prevail. High heels can be tricky on brick and cobblestone streets, after all. Tights serve as great layering devices whether in the form of red hot versions or more neutral numbers. Pops of color also came courtesy of handbags. Red was popular for this purpose, too. This is especially key since the vast majority of street stylists opted for mostly neutral ensembles. Perhaps it's the extension of quiet luxury. An almost curtain call of sorts before maximalism takes back over the mainstream. The haute couture street style outfits signified the inevitable change, but it may still require some time to fully take hold.

Although by the time we round up things in Paris in March, the weather may already be taking a turn toward spring.
