When you think of spring, pastels naturally come to mind. Not that there's anything wrong with that. After a long, drab winter, we all can use a little color pick-me-up. But pastels for spring, to paraphrase Miranda Priestly, isn't exactly groundbreaking. Sporting dark denim for spring, however, is pretty novel.
Shades like navy, ink, indigo and midnight are more associated with fall and winter than spring. We like taking (fashion) risks, though. Plus, there's something about rocking the deeper blue hues that makes any ensemble feel elevated. Some you can even get away with wearing to work. Although you should check with HR first.
If you feel like you simply can't commit because you'll feel separation anxiety if you're not allowed to go the pastel route, relax. You can always wear lilac, baby blue, mint or peach up top or on the bottom to balance things out. Don't sleep on primary colors, either. Add a concentrated pop of red, yellow, blue or green to really amp up the look. You can totally go the double denim route, too.
