Best Fall 2024 Haute Couture Street Style, From Surreal Schiaparelli Collectibles to Classic Chanel

There's a lot of pressure associated with street style. It's a competition to see who can put together the most remarkable outfit of the day. That's true no matter which fashion capital is hosting fashion week. The stakes are even higher, however, when it's haute couture fashion week. When the clothes coming down the runways are real works of art, you've really got to go all out. Fortunately, Fall 2024 Haute Couture street style meets that criteria.

It's pretty easy to spot attendees heading to and from the Schiaparelli show since they are decked out in the fashion house's extravagant and instantly recognizable fare. That even includes accessories, like bags and sunglasses. Which makes sense since artistic director Daniel Roseberry explained that someone recently pointed out that fans "don't buy Schiaparelli, they collect it."

Chanel and Christian Dior showgoers also stand out. The latter had a star-studded front row, including Jennifer Lopez outfitted in a tan dress and black leather opera gloves. Giorgio Armani devotee Cate Blanchett hit the streets in a plunging, structured jumpsuit.

We've actually never seen so many grand gowns outside of a red carpet. From optical illusions to flashy takes on the naked dress trend to cape-covered creations, it felt like we were attending the Cannes International Film Festival. Not everyone adopts the mantra of go big or go home, though. There are somewhat "casual" looks. (We're putting casual in quotes because casual during haute couture fashion week is dressed to the nines compared to any other week.) Like styling a pale padded shoulder T-shirt with a red high-waist skirt worn over matching pants and capped off with matching pumps. Or a white sleeveless top topping off a floral maxi skirt. You get the idea and soon you'll be able to see for yourself anyway.

Bling is in, especially in regards to jewelry. Naturally, bold necklaces and earrings are aplenty courtesy of Schiaparelli because no Schiaparelli tribute would be complete without them. But the trend isn't restricted to one show. In fact, jewelry is often a mechanism to dress up some of those more "casual" looks we mentioned. For example, incorporating strings of pearls from single strands to long layers.

Belts are another common sartorial conduit. The standouts include low-slung versions with attached charms, beaded belts with excess fringe and doubling up on leather classics. Heck, one street stylist rocked a buckle around the bustline and as a choker.
