Pop star Katy Perry is beloved for her experimental fashion style which wavers from chic and sophisticated to crazy and outlandish and always inspires optimism. The singer and long-time American Idol judge has made the hit show her personal runway over the past seven seasons she's been in the hot seat. Perry bid farewell to American Idol during Sunday night's live finale—where Abi Carter was crowned the 2024 winner— and as a tribute to the star, the women of the top 12 performed a medley of her hits including "Teenage Dream," "Dark Horse" and "California Gurls."
While we know this isn't the last we'll be seeing of Perry, who is married to actor Orlando Bloom, we will miss watching her light up the American Idol stage with her signature trailblazing style. In celebration, we look back at Perry's best-of-all-time fashion hits.
Gilt Florals
Perry's grand finale look was a show-stopper. This architectural, 3D bodice featured seven roses for seven seasons.
Chic Noir
The star is sexy and regal in this black wet look off-the-shoulder top and maxi skirt combo.
Leather Goth
Only Perry could accessorize a black leather maxi dress with a belt adorned with keys.
White Out
A more demure Perry in a pretty white Oscar de la Renta laser cut-out dress that is giving spring vibes.
Pop Siren
This aubergine look is part vixen part old Hollywood. We love the contrasting leather strapless bodice with a chiffon high split skirt.
Blue Metallics
Perry wore a metallic blue knit bodysuit with a matching shawl that matched her famous pool-blue eyes.
Fashion is Art
Ever the experimenter this black sculptural bodice was a work of art. Is that a silver shark?
Time for Texture
Looking chic and giving old Hollywood glam again, this black and silver metallic detailed maxi dress was adorned with giant pom poms.
Gold Goddess
In perhaps one of her most iconic looks of all time, Perry wore this custom gold Vivienne Westwood gown to perform at King Charles's coronation. Made from metallic leatherette, it featured a plunging neckline, backless silhouette, draped sleeves and massive train, and was fit for a pop queen.
