London Fashion Week Fall 2024 Street Style Is the Ideal Balance of Quirky and Audible Luxury

Attention everyone getting bored with quiet luxury. London Fashion Week Fall 2024 street style is the answer to your prayers. Often heralded for its quirky approach to dressing, London loves pushing the envelope. Now quiet luxury is pretty powerful so it managed to make its way across the pond. But over in Britain, it's been forced to evolve into a slightly louder version that allows disciples to have a little more sartorial wiggle room.

Pieces have a bit more personality, like a trench coat with checked sleeves or neutral-colored pants that cover the heels of shoes. The mob wife phenomenon is also on full display via plenty of fur/faux fur coats, but they're not being worn in the conventional manner. Instead they come draped over one shoulder, sported with baggy jeans, covering a cut-out minidress or combined with the no-pants trend. It's all very meta when you have fads overlapping like this.

On the quirky side, frilly dresses are often accompanied with equally frilly jackets. A multi-plaid skirt is wrapped around jeans and topped with a white-button, a black leather jacket and a patterned tie. Pink and orange combine to create a texture-heavy neon ensemble. A studded dark denim jacket is paired with shredded jeans letting neon orange animal print boots play peekaboo. Marine Serre's crescent moon semi-sheer top pokes through a cold-shoulder red dress with matching boots and a Yankee baseball hat. And those are just a small handful. Dressing for the elements is still top of mind. Scarves are treated as part of the outfit, whether they're separate or come attached to a piece of clothing. Tights also prove vital. From white lacy numbers to more colorful iterations. Hats are few and far between. Sometime scarves are used to wrap heads and the occasional beret, baseball cap and beanie pop up. As do a couple of furry toppers.

Now that doesn't mean there aren't a few skin-baring looks. See the aforementioned no-pants trend, exposed shoulders, crop tops along with miniskirts and minidresses. Although outerwear is often incorporated to prevent turning into an ice pop.

Footwear is pretty varied. Naturally, all forms of boot are on display. Knee-high and barely over-the-knee versions are the most popular. Flats and loafers are heavily favored, too. Alaïa's infamous ballet flats make a couple appearances. Interestingly, Maison Margiela's Tabi shoes are keeping their resurgence going.

Many showgoers rely on bags to introduce a pop of color. Size-wise, most bags fit comfortably in the middle. Not too gargantuan, not too miniature. Basically, right in that sweet spot where you have enough space to carry your phone, credit cards and makeup essential for on-the-go touch-ups.
