There's been a lot of designer shuffling lately. Haider Ackermann headed to Tom Ford. Kim Jones just departed Fendi. Missoni opted for Alberto Caliri after bidding adieu to Filippo Grazioli. While Hedi Slimane exited Celine. When Alberta Ferretti recently announced she'd be retiring from her namesake brand, we wondered who would replace her. (Although no one can truly replace an icon.) Now we know and it's one of the most logical moves of all.
Lorenzo Serafini will be taking over the creative director role at the Italian fashion house. Which makes total sense. After all, he's already in charge of its sister line, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini.
"I am thrilled to announce that Lorenzo will be my successor at the helm of the brand that bears my name," says Ferretti, currently the vice president of the Aeffe Group. "With the fashion world undergoing tremendous change, I strongly believe that Lorenzo has the creativity, strong aesthetic sense, professionalism and expertise required to meet this challenge. A decade ago, I entrusted Lorenzo with the Philosophy line which he successfully developed into a thriving brand. Now it is time for him to write a new chapter for the Alberta Ferretti brand, whose essence aligns beautifully with his vision. Lightness, femininity, sensuality are words already within Lorenzo's vocabulary, and words he will be able to wonderfully define within the world of Alberta Ferretti."
"With enthusiasm and deep gratitude, I embrace this opportunity the Ferretti family has offered me," declares Serafini. "I am honored that Alberta has chosen me as the successor to such a significant and prestigious legacy, and I will carry it forward with care as I begin a new chapter for the Alberta Ferretti brand."
Serafini's debut Alberta Ferretti collection will be unveiled in February 2025.
