We all know that fashion is cyclical. Certain trends are earmarked to disappear from the fashion landscape, leaving us supposedly thankful to never hear from them again. Then they pop up again and are labeled cool. Lately, formerly labeled Y2K tropes are once again back in style. Now Louis Vuitton is reviving its colorful collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami. Although this is one reissue we don't mind reliving.
Louis Vuitton x Murakami 2.0 is as vibrant and playful as ever. Featuring a whopping 200 pieces, the reinvigorated collaboration is like a shout-out to the original. You'll still find the Monogram Multicolore along with cheery characters, including Superflat Panda and Cherry Blossom. If you can't get your hands on these new collectibles, relax. Louis Vuitton x Murakami 3.0 will be unveiled come spring.
The French fashion house selected Zendaya to be the face of the new offering. Originally shot in front of a green screen by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, the actress appears to tower over the New York City skyline and reclines on a roller coaster and that's just for starters. There's also a fun video where Murakami sends an old-school flip phone from Tokyo all the way to Zendaya in New York City.
The new edition of Louis Vuitton x Murakami will be rolled out January 1st.
