Miu Miu has rolled out everything from barely-there skirts to hot pants to the surprisingly robust no pants look. Up on the runway and outside the runway shows, showing legs, even in winter, is relatively commonplace. In the real world, however, rocking these super short staples is more complicated. Especially if you have any plans of sitting down during your daring outing. The secret to pulling off itty-bitty skirts? Midi dresses.
Hear us out. Ironically, it was the street style set that gave us the idea. One showgoer styled a white button-down shirt with a white micro skirt with the shirt poking out underneath. Now that's still a little risqué for our taste so we're upping the ante on the concept by pairing our super-short skirts with midi dresses. Since cinched waists and peplums are both in, this trick pays off in spades as slipping skirts over dresses instantly acknowledges the two trends.
Now you can't just simply pull any dress out of your closet that hits at or below the knee all the way to ankles. Not every silhouette lends itself to this styling hack. It's vital to select one that doesn't already have a pre-defined waist, especially where belts are involved. You should also pay attention to patterns since a skirt, no matter how tiny, will interrupt a print. Sometimes that interruption enhances the look, while in other instances it detracts.
