Much like the grand impact it has on street style, Paris Fashion Week is one of the biggest sources of bold beauty each and every year. To be fair, sometimes things are pushed too far with over-the-top makeup and hairstyles that upstage the clothes and not in a good way. Then there are those designers who prefer pretty much a clean slate by skipping any visible signs of makeup or hair products. The rest fall into that sweet spot where the fashion and the beauty work together, both striking in their own regard yet somehow managing to shine in concert. Fortunately, the Paris Fashion Week Fall 2024 beauty looks mostly fall into the balanced category.
The hairstyles certainly steal the show(s). Headbands clearly still have some unfinished business to take care of. Balmain didn't stick to black, however. Wide headbands came in black, sage and sand. Flashy gold bands help keep the headbands in place in the back. Meanwhile over at Ann Demeulemeester, chains wrapped around models' heads serve the same purpose. Loewe once again opted for bowl-cut wigs, this time boasting colorful patches up front. Valentino, Dries Van Noten and Germanier's slick hairstyles are an elegant step up from the still popular wet hair look. Ester Manas is trying to keep the scrunchie resurgence going, much to our relief, with ones bigger than the buns they cradled.
If you're looking for chic stand-ins for your regular red and pink lipsticks, take note. Dries Van Noten is a great reference since models were treated to a veritable rainbow of unconventional shades. Valentino decided to bring the drama painting select models' pouts with shiny black lipstick.
We want to give a special shout-out to Christian Dior for one of the top amazing eye looks of fashion month. The combination of vibrant eyeshadow and the restrained placement of said eyeshadow really makes it stand out. Glossy lips complete the look.
Here are the best Paris Fashion Week Fall 2024 beauty looks to admire and maybe, just maybe attempt yourself.
The wide headband obsession continues. At Balmain, they came in black, sage and sand, secured in the back with a gold accent, occasionally tucked under hoods.
Sunburnt-effect pink blush highlighted models' cheeks and undereye areas. Slightly glossy pink lips punctuated the look.
Spattered neon pink or purple eyeshadow was focused only on half of eyelids and the inner corners.
Buns were wrapped tight at the napes of necks and in at least one instance decorated with a larger-than-life scrunchie.
Even the strategically-placed diamantés couldn't distract from the slick, sculpted updos.
Models had ghostly white eyeshadow dusted under their eyes.
Black cropped wigs featured colorful patches that doubled as bangs.
Gel-backed strands, sometimes tucked into tops, were balanced out by eye-covering bangs. Lips also demanded attention thanks to golden, mauve and frosty pink lipsticks.
The sides of models' manes were twisted into spiky low buns.
The look was definitely boho chic with models rocking tousled locks and forehead-topping chain bands.
Sleek and sculpted hairdos were bolstered by black vinyl lips.
Smoky eyes were set ablaze with red eyeshadow complemented by super subtle two-tone lips. (Although not all models' lips were so subdued.)
Models' manes were gathered into low ponytails, but several strands were left free so they could be sculpted around faces.
Just when we thought hair bows couldn't get any bigger...
