Despite being dubbed a trend, there are certain patterns that are cyclical. They have a true timeless appeal. Think animal prints, plaid and polka dots. The latter has proven to be popular on major fall 2023 runways from Marni to Balmain, and are sticking around according to Elie Saab and Vivetta's spring/summer 2024 shows. The retro pattern has even found its way to the wardrobes of style stars like Zoë Kravitz, and with such stellar approval, it's safe to say that polka dots are in style again this season, and quite frankly, will always be.

While polka-dot-printed fashion brings initial images of 1950s housewife dresses to mind, the playful pattern has made an impressive comeback through fresh interpretations. You can never go wrong with classic black-and-white, but elevate your thinking to more unconventional silhouettes like sheer skirts and off-the-shoulder, puff-sleeve frocks. If you fancy more feminine styles, pleated skirts and playful LBDs with a colorful accessory and classic black pumps will serve you well for date night, a weeknight soirée, and more. And if you're feeling extra daring, rock the pattern from head-to-toe, or opt for a striking red-and-white polka-dot dress. Très Chic.

Ahead: shop some of the best polka-dot pieces to work into your wardrobe this season and beyond.
