Our apologies, but you'll have to give us a minute because our heads are reeling. Just one day after the Milan Fashion Week Fall 2025 schedule was released news broke that Gucci Creative Director Sabato De Sarno is exiting the famous fashion house. It's especially jarring because Gucci is set to kick off the week with a coed runway show.
It's also surprising since Gucci only put out a short statement declaring the departure and explained that the aforementioned show will be presented by the Gucci design office. So there's no indication of why the designer is leaving after only two years. Both the CEO of Gucci Stefano Cantino and Francesca Bellettini, deputy CEO of Kering, publicly thanked the designer for his contributions.
De Sarno didn't directly address his departure, but did provide a statement on his Instagram. "Any important project relies on the passion, the intelligence and heart of extraordinary people. To them I say: always look out for your joy. It is the true measure of whether you are true to yourself, whatever the opportunity, whatever the challenge. A thank you would not be enough maybe. But today my joy is for you."
No word yet on who will be taking on the creative director role next so stay tuned.
