Loafers have always been go-to shoes for fall. They're as comfortable as sneakers, but a bit fancier. Making them perfect to wear to work or any other not-casual gathering. But this season, we're forgoing the standard silhouette and embracing slingback loafers instead.
They're a great way to traverse the summer to fall chasm since they offer coverage up front and an exposed heel party in the back. While there are flat versions, we're setting our sights on ones with heels. Of course, heel height varies. There are the more stable block heels that give you a little lift. Then there are borderline stilettos that'll elevate any look.
When it comes to colors, focus on neutrals. (FYI: We're counting light pink as a neutral in this instance.) Black, brown and white prevail. Go with solid numbers or two-tone creations for a preppy twist. Penny loafers, complete with "pennies," are also in demand.
Plenty of designers are leaning into the trend, but you don't have to spend your rent money to snag a pair. We found several lower-priced slingback loafers if you're looking to save.
